Hortensia Hus is characterised by a warm, nuanced façade where the handstruck 3240 Rød med Spil bricks give the building its distinctive character. The bricks display a natural play of colours in shades of red and reddish-brown, creating depth and variation in the brickwork and lending the façades a vibrant, tactile quality. The handstruck texture emphasises the soft, organic look and harmonises beautifully with the green communal areas surrounding the building. The result is a harmonious and inviting architecture where the material defines the identity.

Grønttorvet

The overall development and masterplan for Grønttorvet was created by WERK Arkitekter, responsible for the master plan of the district, including the layout of buildings, urban spaces and landscaping. WERK focuses on creating modern, green urban environments prioritising community and diversity in scale and architecture.

Architectural approach

The architecture of the Hortensia Hus consciously works with scale, materiality and a welcoming appearance where homes and communal spaces are connected through clear edge zones, detailed variation and a focus on residents’ everyday life. The whole is designed with consideration for light, rhythm and secure outdoor spaces, so the building appears harmonious and functions naturally as part of the neighbourhood.
