At Slussplan in Malmö, 3281 Blue Devil with Yellow has been used for a distinctive residential development where the brick’s vibrant colour variation creates depth and character across the façade. The dark, smoky tones are complemented by lighter, warmer hues, giving the brickwork a natural and expressive appearance. The colours reveal themselves differently as the light changes, creating a façade that feels dynamic both from a distance and up close.
In combination with the building’s curved forms, balconies and expansive façades, 3281 Blue Devil with Yellow creates an architectural expression that is both calm and distinctive. The waterstruck surface adds a tactile quality to the brickwork and highlights the natural variation of the clay.
Slussplan was designed by White Arkitekter, one of the Nordic region’s leading architectural practices with extensive experience in residential developments, urban planning and sustainable architecture. In this project, the architects worked with varied building volumes, rounded corners and a strong focus on materials, where the brick façades help create identity and a sense of place within the urban environment.
Slussplan is a landmark residential development located along the canal in central Malmö. Comprising 103 homes and vibrant brick façades, the project contributes to the area’s modern urban development while creating a strong architectural identity.
Slussplan was awarded the Malmö Urban Design Award 2014 in the residential category. The award recognises projects that make a positive contribution to architecture, housing quality and urban development in Malmö.
